Appalachian Music & Dance with Alan Jabbour

APPALACHIAN MUSIC AND DANCE WITH ALAN JABBOUR

Dr. Alan Jabbour, Former Head of the Archive of Folk Song at the Library of Congress, will lead an interactive performance of Appalachian music and dance featuring local musicians and dancers. Alan is an accomplished fiddler as well as scholar of Southern Appalachian music.

Performing with Dr. Jabbour is a talented group of community musicians and dancers including

  • NC Heritage Award winner, 90 year old Robert Dotson 
  • Cecil Gurganus,
  • Gordy Hinners,
  • John Turner,
  • Julie Gurganus.

The performance, organized by Appalachian State University Faculty Suzi Mills and Rebecca Keeter, will also feature appearances by cast members from Joel Williams’ original play, Promisesbeing produced by the Department of Theatre and Dance.
