Texturing with Paint - A Scenic Painting Workshop
The foundation for great painted scenery begins with the proper texture. This technology and technique workshop focuses basic paint texturing techniques. The scenic artist will hold a question and answer session as he demonstrates various common texturing techniques used in scenic painting. Discussion topics include painting equipment and supplies, textures used to create various “looks” and tips on stretching your painting budget.

About the Clinician:
Michael Helms hails from Utah and has a 30-year career as a scenic designer and scenic artist.  He has designed and painted over 150 professional productions in theatre, dance, opera and outdoor drama.  Mike has designed professionally for Ensemble Stage, Bay Pointe Ballet, ASU Opera, Barter Theatre, Nevada Ballet Theatre, American Folk Ballet, BYU Opera and the Jackson Hole Playhouse.  For 10 years he worked for the Utah Shakespearean Festival; first as technical director then as production manager
