Peer Review Policy

Peer Review and Evaluation Policy: Theatre and Dance

Peer review policy, applicable to all faculty members:

  • Note: Please review the ASU and TD Departmental guidelines carefully. Each faculty member needs to be peer reviewed with two reviewers, per our university and departmental guidelines. This is not a change; it has just not always been followed.
  • Please note the filing instructions as indicated in the departmental guidelines on Dossiers and Personnel records.

Peer evaluations, DUE in the fall or early spring if possible:

  • It is important to have the documentation in your dossier and personnel files before each yearly personnel recommendation.

Part time faculty should be peer reviewed each semester if they are on a semester contract basis, if they teach throughout the year, review once a year

All faculty who are tenure track, lecturers, or 3/4 time should be reviewed each year

Tenured faculty should be reviewed before each personnel review (every 3 years, minimum)

Documenting your Peer Evaluation

When you have been peer reviewed, it is your responsibility to place that documentation in your dossier. Your peer reviewer must submit the chair's form that says only that you were reviewed, the class and the date; this form is placed in your personnel file. If you elect to use the chair's form in your dossier rather than submitting the formative peer review report, you may do so, but each faculty member is responsible for seeing that their dossier is accurate and up to date. Part time faculty members should make sure that their most recent peer evaluations are placed in their binder in the chair’s office.

The tenure and promotion dossiers and related materials are shared with the DPC/PTC when making personnel recommendations for contract renewals and promotions.
