North Shore Decoration Exhibit
In conjunction with the performances of Promises, the lobby of the Valborg Theatre will house an exhibit of background materials related to the play; photographs and video clips related to North Shore Cemetery Decorations; and informational placards on loan from Western Carolina University's Mountain Heritage Center. These placards are based on the research of Dr. Alan Jabbour and the photography of his wife, Karen Singer Jabbour.
Dr. Jabbour is a retired Director of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress and he and his wife co-authored the book Decoration Day in the Mountains: Traditions of Cemetery Decoration in the Southern Appalachians
