Mr. Kevin L. Morrissey

He received a B.F.A. from the Theatre School at DePaul University and an M.F.A. from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.  While in undergraduate school Kevin was a design intern at the Metropolitan Opera in New York where he assisted Franco Zeffirelli on Don Giovanni.  He is a member of the Art Directors Guild.  A recent transplant to Lenoir, North Carolina after 24 years in California where he was both a professor and freelance designer in theatre, film, television, and corporate industrial productions. In addition to adjunct faculty positions, Kevin is currently working as a fine artist—figure drawing, pleinair painting, and architectural rendering.  His work can be seen at: or in local exhibitions.

Some of Kevin’s professional credits include:  Set Designer for the television productions Frasier, Becker, Resurrection Blvd., and Babylon 5, Assistant Scenic Designer for the Emmy Award-winning production of Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby, and Set Designer for the feature films Elizabethtown and Flight of the Phoenix.  Kevin was a Professor and Department Chair at Los Angeles City College, leading the department to national recognition at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and designing scenery for more than 40 productions.  Immediately prior, he taught and designed at the University of California at Riverside, where he created more than 60 designs for scenery, costumes, lighting and/or sound.
