Ms. Susan Cato-Chapman

Susan joined the faculty at Appalachian State in 2018 having previously taught at Fairmont State University in West Virginia. While at Fairmont State, she received the Foundation Fellow Award which aided in her Alexander Technique studies. Susan is a recent graduate of the Chesapeake Bay Alexander Studies, located in Greensboro, NC. Her Alexander work has opened the door to her current research: Trans-perspectives and Language, an investigation into the availability of structural and supplemental support for individuals who identify as transgender or gender non-conforming. Susan is a certified Michael Chekhov Teacher and is as an Associate Teacher with the Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium. Mostly recently, Susan directed Urinetown, the Musical which was selected to perform at the Region 2 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. She is a proud member of Actor’s Equity.
