Sue Williams began her journey in the Department of Theatre and Dance in 1993 and retired 30 years later in 2023. She served as Assistant Chair in the department for 6 years, from 2017 until retirement, working with three different chairs. She served as co-leader of the Theatre in Europe Study Abroad program from 2008 until retirement. She worked extensively in both areas of the department, teaching courses in both Theatre and Dance, and designing costumes for productions in both areas every year. During her time at Appalachian, she designed costumes for a combined 150 dance pieces and theatre productions. She also designed costumes for area theatres and enjoyed performing in several roles when the opportunity arose.
