An evocative reimagining of one of China’s most beloved folktales, The White Snake, from Tony Award winning director and playwright Mary Zimmerman, begins with a single daring choice: an animal immortal dreaming of a human life. Disguising herself as a woman, a beautiful white snake ventures into the human realm, risking everything to experience love, beauty, and freedom. She finds a soulmate in a gentle healer, and together they build a life grounded in compassion and care. Harmony between these two worlds comes at a heavy cost. When a rigid monk threatens to reveal her true nature, the fragile bond forged across boundaries is put to the ultimate test. This enchanting theatrical romance invites reflection on humanity's relationship with the natural world and the courage required to reach across the divide.
