Dance Studio Request

Varsity Gym Dance Studios

The Department of Theatre and Dance manages three dance studios/performance labs and one Pilates/Gyrotonic studio in the Varsity Gym building. The use of these studios is for academic and co-curricular instruction by the Department of Theatre and Dance, though some use by organizations outside the university is available for a nominal rental fee.

We regret that our studios/performance labs are not available for use by students or organizations not associated with department courses or events. This is to protect expensive flooring and other equipment housed in the studios and purchased by the department. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Priority for use of dance studios/performance labs:

  • App State dance faculty and departmental courses
  • Classes/rehearsals that are directly related to the department curriculum (Appalachian Dance Ensemble, First Year Showcase, etc.)
  • App State students enrolled in a DAN or SSU class or engaged in a co-curricular performance project
  • Student organizations associated with the Department of Theatre and Dance
