This Fall's Musical Theatre Trip departs from campus at 9 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 returning to Boone at approximately 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021. This group will be accompanied by Dr. Joby Bell, Professor Keith Martin, Dr. Ray Miller, and Dr. Jessica Wood. Anticipated activities include attending Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals, backstage tours, meet-and-greets with select cast members, representatives of musical licensing companies, a professional musical theatre audition workshop with an opportunity to make your NYC singing debut, and myriad holiday activities. Priority consideration is given to first and second year students, and those who have not made previous trips. Interest forms are on the department website and due by noon on September 1, 2021. Once confirmed, participants must enroll in THR 2850 for one hour of academic credit and commit to seeing at least five of the seven or eight shows selected by the group. * See more details below

This Fall's Senior Theatre Trip departs from campus at 8 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022 and returns to Boone at approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022. This group will be accompanied by theatre faculty and staff members Dr. Derek Davidson, Kristin Grieneisen, Martha Marking and Keith Martin. Anticipated activities include attending Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, backstage tours, meet-and-greets with select cast members and Appalachian alumni working in the field, agents and managers, representatives of various unions/trade associations/guilds, tours of Lincoln Center, the Philip Rose Theatre Collection at the NY Public Library for the Performing Arts, and Signature Theatre, sessions with commercial and not-for-profit producers, and a visit to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, with possible side-trips for Theatre Education and Design/Tech majors. Priority consideration will be given to current senior theatre majors and minors, then those who have not made previous trips. The 2022 Spring Dance Studies Tripdeparts from campus at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 returning to Boone at approximately 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022. This group will be accompanied by dance studies faculty members Brad Parquette, Sherone Price, and Kevin Warner. Anticipated activities include attending performances at ABT, NYCB, Alvin Ailey, and select performances at the Joyce Theatre, along with master classes and lecture/ demonstrations, tours of Lincoln Center, and the Jerome Robbins Dance Division of the NY Public Library for the Performing Arts, and a visit to Dancers Responding to AIDS. Priority consideration will be given first to current senior dance majors, then senior dance minors, then underclassmen. Interest forms are on the department website and are due by noon on March 1, 2022. Once selected, participants must enroll in DAN 4850 in the spring semester for one hour of academic credit and commit to seeing at least five of six shows selected by the group. * See more details below

* PLEASE NOTE More Details - The musical theatre and dance trips are six days and five nights in duration with a base cost of $395 per person; the senior theatre trip includes one additional day ans the cost is $445. This fee includes van transportation to/ from NYC, parking, tolls, accommodations at the ASU Loft, active faculty/staff participation, orientation sessions and scheduled activities. You are responsible for tickets (purchased in advance for the entire group at student rates, averaging from $45 to $55 per show), meals, and incidental expenses you incur related to shopping, sightseeing, etc. You will be required to attend up to three pre-trip orientation sessions, complete registration forms, liability waivers, and an acknowledgement statement that you have read the rules and regulations pertaining to all sponsored trips. Payment must be made to ASU Conference and Event office via a link sent to participants seven days prior to the deadlines for each trip via a link sent to participants. If payment is not received by the deadline, your slot will default to the next person on the waitlist if payment is not received by noon on the due date.
